A SELECTION OF RECENT PROJECTS: ___________________________________________________________________________________ Essex-Middlesex Natural Gas Pipeline Location: Lynnfield, Wakefield and Saugus, MA Client: Tennessee Gas Pipeline Company HES conducted rare species and vernal pool surveys within wetland habitats along a 7.8-mile pipeline route. We conducted funnel trap surveys for the blue-spotted salamander, nest searches for the four-toed salamander, and an aquatic invertebrate funnel trap survey. We also assisted in the preparation of permitting materials under the Mass. Endangered Species Act. ___________________________________________________________________________________... Devens North Post Redevelopment Location: Ayer and Shirley, MA Client: MassDevelopment After preparation of a detailed rare species habitat assessment, HES subsequently identified the locations of numerous vernal pools and conducted rare species surveys for multiple plant and wildlife species within the Nashua River and adjacent wetland and upland habitats. The results of the surveys are being used to aid in the design of road improvements and both residential and commercial development in the area. ___________________________________________________________________________________ Location: Haverhill, MA Client: KGI Properties, LLC HES conducted surveys for an endangered turtle species in the vicinity of a proposed retail commercial development. We designed and oversaw the installation of a habitat enhancement plan which provides a safe turtle nesting habitat adjacent to existing wetlands and away from roads and parking lots. ___________________________________________________________________________________ Location: Kingston, MA Client: Tall Timbers Estates, LLC HES conducted surveys for endangered turtles and salamanders at a large residential development site. We have used the results of a multi-year turtle radio-telemetry study to aid in the design of housing and roadway layout and meet the performance standards for a Conservation and Management Permit under the Mass. Endangered Species Act. ___________________________________________________________________________________ About HYLA | Selected projects | Our biologists | Contact Us | Links | Home |
